Wedding at The Seelbach in Louisville--Abby & Mike

It had been raining for days, but the weather reports were predicting a break over the weekend; just in time for Abby and Mike's wedding at The Seelbach in downtown Louisville. And when Saturday morning rolled around, the skies were clear, the sun was shining down and the temperature was perfect. You couldn't ask for a more beautiful day to get married.
The Jewish ceremony took place under the Chuppah in the Medallion Ballroom. The team of In Bloom Again worked their magic and created a beautiful and colorful atmosphere for the ceremony. The words spoken by the Rabbi, cousin to the bride, were so wonderfully moving as you will hear when you watch their highlights film.
At the reception, everyone was able to relax and enjoy all the festivities planned. The Galaxy Band from St. Louis put on an incredible performance; mixing it up and keeping the guests out on the floor and having a great time. We were honored to be there to work with Abby and Mike as they celebrated such a wonderful day with all the amazing people in their lives.

Why a Wedding Film

I was surfing today and found this wonderful blog post by a fellow filmmaker in Florida, Jocelyn Karas. I thought this would be very helpful to brides in the planning process. This entry gives wonderful reasons for placing a priority on a wedding film when you are planning your wedding budget.

"As wedding filmmakers, we are often told by brides that having a wedding film is “not a priority.” There are many reasons why having a lasting high quality film of your wedding day is absolutely vital to reliving your special day forever.
The wedding day is one that, for many couples, passes in a blur. Moments such as the way you moved while dancing your first dance, your father walking you down the aisle, and the sound of your quivering voice as you recite your vows can only be captured in a wedding film. These moments in your film serve as a legacy that will be watched by your children and grandchildren. To quote one of our past brides, “I never realized how important my wedding film would become to me. My dad who was ill at the time of the wedding was not going to be able to walk me down the aisle. At the last minute he ended up walking me down the aisle. Having the film of that moment with my father and our other loved ones has been priceless to us.”
We hear couples say, “I’ll never watch my wedding film.” If we could only count the number of couples that have called to tell us that they watch their wedding films over and over. If you choose to hire a company that is not adequately trained or whose editing style you don’t enjoy, you probably will not watch your film. However, if you educate yourself on the cinematic styles that are offered today, you will easily see that contemporary wedding films are entertaining and timeless. By hiring a professional you are ensuring that every special moment will be captured, it will be professionally shot and edited, you will be able to hear the vows and toasts perfectly (something not easily accomplished without professional sound equipment) and the filmmakers will remain unobtrusive on your wedding day.
We live in an interactive age. With outlets such as blogs and e-mail, couples are able to post their cinematic highlights online and e-mail them to friends and family who might not have been able to make it on the actual wedding day. Many couples display their films in digital picture frames. We live in a multimedia world and having a wedding film engages people in a way that no other media can.

Louisville Wedding Videographer-Great start to 2011!

Wow! We are already 2 months into 2011 and I still cannot believe it! We had such an awesome 2010 and for that we want to say a big "Thank You" to all of our wonderful couples. We really enjoyed working with each of you and loved the opportunity to capture your wedding day. And as 2011 came around, there was lots of good news for us. We were honored to receive the second year in a row the "Bride's Choice Award 2011" for wedding videography in Louisville, Kentucky from Weddingwire.com; this award is given to the top 5% of wedding vendors as decided by past clients. Then a few weeks later we learned that we came in 3rd place in The Best Of Kentuckiana for Wedding Videography! We are so thankful for everyone who voted for us and supported us. We are proud to know that our couples love their wedding videos so much that they want to brag about us online.
So with all this good news coming our way, what did we do? We went to New Orleans! (okay, so we had the trip already planned before we found all this out, but it sounded good;). But this wasn't a trip just for fun. We had the opportunity to spend several days with some of the best in the world of wedding videography and some of the best wedding videographers out there. We talked with old friends and new from all over the world and shared ideas and tips with others in our industry. Dennis and I learned so much during our stay and we are so excited to use our new knowledge and great ideas with all the great weddings we have coming up!
We made a short film about our experience in New Orleans-this was our first trip. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed creating it!

Greta & Matt-Dancing the Night Away

Greta & Matt are such a beautiful and sweet couple! It was a beautiful fall day for a wedding. Their wedding day was filled with lots of family and friends and quite a large bridal party! Greta looked beautiful in her mermaid style wedding gown. Greta and Matt's wedding ceremony was held at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. The reception followed at St. Michael's community center. There, the guests were entertained with food, dancing and a live performance by The Wilson Brother's Band! You can tell by looking at the faces in their highlights film that everyone was having such a wonderful time.

Natalie & LeRoy-Time for Something a Little Different

When I met with Natalie and LeRoy before their wedding, they told me that they wanted their highlights film to be different. The groom is a huge Michael Jackson fan and really like rock, too. They didn't want a typical pop song that everybody uses; they wanted something exciting with a lot of energy that would really show off their unique personalities. So I suggested this song and they loved it. Once I got into the editing of the footage, the feel and the fun of their day was really expressed through the song. Their wedding ceremony started at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Albany with the wedding reception at The Grand in New Albany. Both families were fun loving and I had a feeling from the start that it was going to be a party to remember. We worked along side Wendy Burk Wedding photography. The DJ's from Spin-Around-Sounds kept the music playing and the people on the dance floor. I was not disappointed one bit! So many of the guests had us laughing out loud throughout the night. It was such an awesome wedding and we are honored that we got to be a part of it.

Angela & Brant-The Desire of Your Heart

We had the pleasure of filming Angela & Brant's wedding day at the Marriott in downtown Louisville and what a warm and wonderful event it was! The wedding ceremony was incredibly intimate with a wonderful speech by the officiate, Bob Cherry. As a friend of the family, he had the privilege of watching Angela grow up which made the ceremony very personal. In Bloom Again worked their magic and created a beautiful setting for the wedding day with a custom cross and gorgeous bouquets and floral centerpieces. In the Kentucky Ballroom, the reception was a blast! SUP did an awesome job getting all the guests out on the dance floor and having a great time. We had such a good time working along side Studio E Photography; be sure to visit their blog to check out the amazing pictures from this wedding. And while filming the toasts, I had the luck of getting hit by a flying cork for the first time. Nice shot Brant! Bold colors and beautiful fall weather, a recipe for a beautiful wedding day! Dionna and Theus are such a wonderful couple and they are so full of life. The entire day was filled with family and friends, smiles and laughter. Their ceremony was held at Mt. Olive Missionary Church in downtown Louisville-the live music during the ceremony was incredible! The celebration continued with food and dancing at Woodhaven Country Club; a beautiful ending to a beautiful day.

When I met with Allie & Jeremy about their wedding day, they told me they both loved nature and the outdoors. In planning their wedding day, they mentioned the details of their outdoor wedding and I knew it was going to be beautiful. When we arrived at Grace Christian Church in Georgetown, Kentucky, the first thing that caught my attention was that the field where Allie and Jeremy were going to be married was filled with little yellow and white butterflies. They were so beautiful! It added to the already beautiful landscape and decorations of the wedding; as you will see in their highlights film. Allie and Jeremy are such a sweet couple and we really wanted to show off not just the beauty of the day but the beauty of the love that these two obviously share for each other.

We had the pleasure of filming a quinceanera for Jackie (her 15th birthday party). And what a party is was!!! There was a ceremony held at St. Joseph's with the reception following at the Mellwood Arts Center in their new room. There was so much going on from the food, to the mariachi band, the fashion show, the dancing; the list just went on and on and so did the party; as you can see from her highlights film.

Karen & Adam's Wedding Day

Karen and Adam were married over the 4th of July weekend. It was a beautiful and emotional wedding ceremony. The wedding ceremony and reception were both at The Olmsted in Louisville, which made for an elegant and yet intimate event. Adam selected his son as his best man; the toast that Little Adam, aka "LA" gave to Adam and Karen actually brought a tear to my eye. For such a young gentleman he was very well spoken. Shannon with Leigh Photography was there creating beautiful images of the wedding ceremony and reception. Kenny Sauter with Masters of Music did such an awesome job of entertaining the guest, as he always does. There was even a bar sculpted out of ice! Karen and Adam even planned a festive end of the night surprise for their guests; a private fireworks display by Louisville Wedding Fireworks. I think their highlights film captures not only their day, but their relationship, too.

We had the pleasure of working with Sarah & Arturo on their wedding day and what a beautiful wedding it was! Sarah works in the wedding industry so she knew which vendors she wanted to make her day the wedding of her dreams. They held the ceremony at the Gardens of Ray Eden in Crestwood, KY. As beautiful as the location is, her florist, In Bloom Again really brought style and color into the day. The flowers were gorgeous. Even though the heat index was about 100, you would never know it looking at the bride and groom. They were having the time of their lives and family and friends right along side them. Masterson's provided the wonderful food and service, with a country station and a Mexican station to please everyone. Masters of Music kept the party going all night long. So just the other day I was in a local book store and on the shelf I saw this book. So I picked up the copy and flipped through the pages and I am in it! Last year I had a fellow videographer from California call me. She was writing a book about wedding videography and was looking for wedding videographers from all over the country. She was impressed with our work and wanted to interview me for her book. It was really great to talk with someone in the industry about what we do. And imagine my surprise when just a few months ago, I received a copy of the book in the mail from her as a thank you. If you are interested, you can purchase the book at Amazon or you can find it at some of our bookstores here in town.

It's a Love Story-Angela & Ben

Such a great story! Angela and Ben met when they were in middle school; and Ben knew from the beginning that Angela was the girl for him. In Ben's words "we were inseparable, we always have been." And 13 years later they walked down the aisle and pledged their life and love to one another. And what a wedding it was! We had the pleasure of spending the whole day with them; getting ready at the hotel, preparations at the church and even some fun footage at the hotel at the end of the night (it's PG I promise!). The ceremony and reception were both held at St. Louis Bertrand. Their first dance was absolutely AWESOME! They took formal lessons from Dance with Grace and created a dance montage including Thriller, Dirty Dancing, Cotton Eye Joe and many more. The guests loved it! You can see some of their moves in their highlights film. Jason Eustice provided the music; he even wrote and performed a song for the couple. J. Elizabeth Designs created all the beautiful floral arrangements, Chaney's Chocolates had a yummy chocolate fountain flowing and Fun Time Photo Booth kept the guests entertained all evening.

Love and Luck-Racheal & Will

If rain on your wedding day means luck, then Racheal and Will have enough luck to last a lifetime! This wonderful couple was married in Pikeville, KY on May 2, 2010. You may remember that this was the day of the big storm that caused the horrible flooding in Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky. But the rain lightened up just enough for the day to go on as planned. The family and friends that surrounded this couple were such warm and welcoming people; and they braved the weather to come out and show their love and support of Racheal and Will. You can really feel the love and warmth of the people and their day.

Mindy & Jason's Wedding Day

If I could use only one word to describe this wedding, it would have to be "Perfect." Mindy and Jason's wedding day was an absolute dream! The weather could not have been better for an outdoor wedding and everything seemed to happen so smoothly. The wedding was held at Spring Valley Golf Club in Lexington, KY. The bride and groom were both so relaxed; but I guess that had a lot to do with Leann Shields, their wedding planner. She did an absolute wonderful job of pulling this wedding together. Her decorations were gorgeous and the candy buffett was a HUGE hit! Mindy and Jason selected Todd Pellowe as their photographer and he was a great professional to work with. He had such a great rapport with the couple so be sure to check his blog to see some of the wonderful shots he captured.
There was so much going on a the reception between the photo booth, the unbelievable grooms cake, provided by Confused Confections and the nonstop dancing, provided by Sounds2Go. It was truly a memorable day and we are so honored that Mindy and Jason chose us to be a part of it.

The 2010 Bridal Show Season Begins!

It's that time of year again! Congratulations to all the couples who got engaged over the holiday season! Planning a wedding can be stressful and overwhelming; there are so many decisions to be made! No matter if you have been planning your wedding for months already or if you just set your date, there are plenty of bridal shows for you to visit to get ideas for your special day. Here are a few that are coming up:

On Thursday, January 7, from 4-8pm, Gingerwoods will be hosting The Wedtro.com Bridal Expo V. They will be giving away up to $12,000 worth of wedding services! The show is free to attend, but they are also accepting donations of items for Wayside Christian Mission.

Sunday, January 10, from 2:00-5:00 The Grand in New Albany will hold their annual Open house and tasting. This event is free for all brides, grooms and guests.

Sunday, Januayr 24, from 1:00-4:00 Woodhaven Country Club will host its annual Wedding Give Away. You can preregister and get more infromation with Ultimate Bridal Services.

Sunday, February 7, from 2:00-5:00 Kye's will host their 6th annual All the Best Bridal Expo. This show is free to all.

What a way to end the year!

Wow! We had an amazing day which was the perfect end to an amazing year! We had such a great time working with Sara & Robert on their wedding day. They were such a fun couple to work with and they were surrounded by wonderful family and friends. They held their wedding at The Grand in New Albany, which was decorated beautifully! We also had the pleasure of working with Phillips Photography again. As a surprise for the couple, we presented a Same Day Edit of their wedding day during the reception. They were completely blown away! My favorite part was during the presentation, the whole crowd started singing along with the song! It was such a great experience; we are glad Sara & Robert asked us to be a part of their day!

WOW!! There was a HUGE turnout for The Olmsted bridal show on Sunday; almost 300 brides!! We were talking to couples the entire time. And it was so much fun! We were booth neighbors with J. Elizabeth Designs . Her flower designs for this year were over the top! There were more vendors at the show this year, so brides really had the opportunity to shop around and see what is available to them. And from what I saw, 2010 is going to be a BUSY year for weddings! We booked several weddings at the show and a few more yesterday. 2010 is filling up quickly and we are already booking for 2011. Kelly & Robby's Wedding

Blue skies and beautiful weather! Kelly & Robby had a beautiful day for their wedding. It was held at St. Martin of Tours in downtown Louisville. This historic church has a lot of unique details and the couple really wanted to capture the beauty and feeling of their church. Robby proposed to Kelly infront of the monument right outside the church! It was a very elegant wedding with room for a few laughs as well. The reception followed at the Knights of Columbus Hall in New Albany, Indiana. Their cakes were wonderfully individualized! They had cakes on every table with pictures of their lives screen printed on the cakes. It was a great conversation piece; something we had never seen before!

Jill & Kelly's wedding

WOW!! This wedding was absolutely beautiful and the bride looked like a model froma bridal magazine! Everything was perfect. It was a busy day of filming, but well worth it. The day started with the pre wedding shoot at the church, Middletown Christian. The photographer, Amy Shepherd, took some amazing photos and she was great to work with all day. The ceremony was followed immediately by the reception at The Olmsted. Kenny Sauter of Masters of Music put on one of the best parties we have seen in a while! Everyone was dancing, laughing and having such a good time. The maid of honor was even prepared with a toast she actually RAPPED to the bride and groom in front of everyone! We had such a good time working with Jill & Kelly; it was definitely an unforgetable wedding!

Erin & Dennis were both wonderful to work with, and by the wedding day we thought of them more as friends than just our videographers. Jon & Jessica had a beautiful day for their wedding. They were married at St. Aloysius Church in Crestwood with the reception following at Claudia Sanders. This was a busy day of filming, but a lot of fun. The grooms men were definitely entertaining. The entire bridal party did an awesome "entrance dance"-internet inspiration maybe? There were LOTS of family and friends present to share in the couple's special day.
